3 things prospective employers secretly do to decide if you are a good fit

First of all, congratulations to our Batch B, stream 1 Flexxers that passed out last week, wishing you good success in all your future endeavours. As you start the job hunting process, you can participate in our #FCMBFlexxtern competition here and also watch out for these things employers do secretly to check if you’re the right candidate.

Check your social media: Social media is the new job market and what better way to check out your habits, behaviours and thoughts than via your social media pages. Many youths have lost job opportunities due to obscene and derogatory posts on their social media accounts. Also, always  ensure the information on your CV and your social media accounts tally, you don’t want employers to see Unilag on your CV and LASU on your LinkedIn profile.

Contact your references: Oh yes, this happens a lot, most people don’t put references in their CVs because they think recruiters don’t call to find out about them, others don’t even inform or ask for permission from the people they use as their references. Make sure the references in your CV are people that can vouch for you; some recruiters even contact your former workplace to find out why you left and your workplace behaviours.

Appraises your outfit: The rule of first impressions always wins in our interactions with one another and the best way to quickly surmise a person is through his/her clothing. An employer can decide if you’re perfect for the job based on what you’re wearing and how you’re able to comport yourself, do not wear overly tight and uncomfortable clothing to a job interview and always dress for the job.
