Big-ups to Burna Boy!
The ‘African Giant’ as he loves to call himself, won the Best International Act in BET Awards 2020 – An award that celebrates black excellence in entertainment and sports, which held on Sunday 29th of June, 1:00 am WAT.
It was held virtually due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and simulcasted via CBS. Among many beautiful awards like Issa Rae winning Best Actress, was our homeboy, Burna Boy, who in his speech said;
“I’ll like to use this opportunity to say that sometime around 1835, there was a mission to turn Africa into a dominated nation. Now is the time to overturn that and go back to the royalty that we were, because, for black lives to matter, Africa must matter.”

This is the second time he has won a Black Entertainment TV(BET) Award, as he won Best International Act last year also. Indeed, Africans matter, and we keep showing it through our originality.
