Healthy body, Healthy Mind. – Taking care of your body can significantly improve your mind. Get your body moving through walks and exercise to release “feel good” hormones that are known to reduce stress and anger

Practise Gratitude – Our wants are insatiable and we’re always on the hunt for more. Mindfully practise gratitude and appreciate what you have now to unlock more out of life

Go off the grid. Set out a tech-free period on a daily or weekly basis to reduce stress and help you listen to yourself. Our digital devices feed us information about other people and so you should set time aside to unplug and connect with yourself

Develop healthy coping mechanisms. Blocking out difficult feelings through substances or unhealthy habits for temporary relief does not guarantee a lasting solution. Going to therapy, learning a new skill are some ways to deal with stress

Track your progress. It’s easy to minimize your growth and achievements if you don’t track them. Keep a journal and keep track of every milestone and goal achieved (big or small) to realize how much growth has happened in your life

Surround yourself with good people. You’re a product of the people you surround yourself with. Having people who are good for your mental health will help you enjoy life more and understand yourself better

Set boundaries. To feel secure and comfortable in your interactions with friends, family, colleagues, etc., it is important to set boundaries so that you’re not sacrificing your mental health at the altar of people pleasing

Seek help. Going to therapy is a good way to unclutter your mind. However, if you can’t afford therapy, there are tons of resources such as self-help books, and videos on YouTube that can give some form of clarity to whatever you’re going through

Learn new skills. Your self-esteem and confidence can experience a boost when you learn new skills and give you a new sense of purpose. At every stage, ensure you’re bringing learning into your life

Live in the moment. Overthinking tends to rob you of the joys of the moment and is dangerous to your mental well-being. The constant worry of what should be and could be will rob you of the beauty of life that is happening in the present
