We empower girls to #BeBoldForChange in celebration of International Women’s Day

In celebration of International Women’s Day and to reinforce our commitment to continually impact lives in communities, our women sponsored young girls in a 3month intensive skills acquisition and basic business management training programme to empower them with entrepreneurial and employability skills and lay a good foundation for their future.

The girls graduated yesterday and the timing couldn’t be more perfect, we collaborated with Jakin NGO and formed a Fresh Foundation programme to train the girls. The batch made up of ten young secondary school leavers from rural communities in Lagos within the age range of 16 and 21 years, underwent training in computer application skills, business management and planning, bookkeeping, work ethics, time management, beads and soap making, among others.

Our women are very passionate about empowering children, especially the less privileged in the society. This is our little way of helping to ensure that these girls who have just finished secondary school, are not idle, but given the basic training and exposure required to give them a head start for a bright future.

The girls were so happy and filled with gratitude, the best graduating girl from the batch, Miss Blessing Ogbansiegbe, also won a three-month internship with FCMB and she said “The training has awakened the giant in me. I have learnt so much about effective communication, improved my knowledge of time management, branding and advertising.’’

Another student who finished from Surulere Girls Secondary School, Chioma Akintaiwo gushed that it was a wonderful moment for her and she thanked us and the foundation for adding such great value to their lives.
