Meet Aobo Ugbede, Our Flexxpreneur Of The Month!

Hey Flexxers!

It’s been a while🙂….

Say hello to Aobo Ugbede, our Flexxpreneur of the month of May.

Inspired by the need to help “naturalistas'” rock their hair with pride, the beautiful Aobo Ugbede founded Aobo Mane Secret; a haircare line that helps women overcome their hair challenges.

As our “Flexxpreneur of the Month” the Benue state indigene tells us her major challenges, wins and hopes for the future.

(AIRTEL 1615 4695 0131 7188)

Let’s meet you (Your name, what you do and where you are from)

My name is Aobo Ugbede, a product formulator and haircare coach from Benue state, Nigeria.

How long have you been doing this?

I have been doing this for over 2 years.

What inspired you to go into business?

I saw a lot of women and children go through series of challenges with their natural hair. And came to realise it was due to a lack of knowledge on how the ‘natural hair’ works. Being natural all my life, I knew my skill was important to help these ‘naturalistas’ and fill the vacuum. So, I set out to change the narrative.

What are the challenges you face as a young entrepreneur?

  • Sourcing for authentic ingredients/raw materials
  • Hike in price of raw materials
  • Lack of sufficient funds and facilities to do way more

What was your highest and lowest point since you started this journey?

The highest point for me was when I got feedback from clients who achieved results with our products and recommended techniques.

The lowest point for me was a period we had very low sales.

Which individuals do you get inspiration from and why?

Esther Angbulu (My Mom), for her tenacity and passion.
Dupe Talabi also known as Tasala, for her skills and expertise.

How do you unwind?

I unwind by going for body massage sessions.

What advice would you give your fellow Flexxers who are on this path?

You never know how capable you are until you give expression to your dreams. Clarification comes by taking the first step.
