The comfortability and lack of nothing treatment enjoyed by children born into a wealthy family (rich kids) have always brought about the general opinion that it is difficult for a rich kid to make any spectacular achievement.
Mostly, Africans believe that the majority of the rich kids are always disrespectful, due to the fact that they believe to have needed nothing from anyone and thus has no sense of regards for anyone. The people also see them as someone who believes that they are the top of the world and no average or poor people could reach out to them. And also believe they are superior to others, as they can obtain any of their desire with money always available. Thus, they will not want to listen to any piece of advice offer them by the common man, even when it is more beneficial to them. One of their common slogans is “poverty has eaten up your brain”, then move on to brag with their wealthy background.
This notion or believe lately has been proving to be wrong and not always true. Although, there may be some element of truth in it, this all depends on the kind of upbringing received or individual personality. Many examples of rich kids today have been seen making the limelight, lots of them have been seen putting up hard work to achieve success in the various profession they choose. At various levels and professions, we have seen so many of them exhibiting intelligence in their work and performing excellently well.
Being born or brought up rich it’s not a yard-stick for mischievous act and also not an opportunity to be lazy. On the other hand, it is a better pathway to obtain an accelerated success, as the tools needed to achieve greatness are always available at the fingertip. Lots of examples of rich kids have been seen especially in Nigeria making it at bigger stages across the globe, even when they don’t have to inherits their father’s properties to achieves their success.
Take, for instance, a Nigerian who acquired the Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom, Mr ADEBAYO OGUNLESI. The son of Prof. Theophilus O. Ogunlesi (The first Emeritus Professor of Medicine in Nigeria), at the University of Ibadan, dates back in 1965. Talking about Mr Adebayo Ogunlesi, who have achieved so much in his profession as a legal practitioner (lawyer) as well as an investment banker.
He (Mr Adebayo Ogunlesi) being a son of an elite have judiciously made use of his opportunity to achieves countless of success in life. He has not only made his parents proud but making the entire nation (Nigeria) proud at different stage across the globe. He has gotten lots of international awards, which are all due to his hardworking and excellent performances in his profession. He is a great man of honour to be reckoned with in the society today. Mr Adebayo Ogunlesi, 66, is currently Chairman and Managing Partner at the private equity firm, Global infrastructure Partner (GIP). He was the former head of Global Investment Banking at Credit Suisse First Boston, before being promoted to Chief Officer and Executive Vice Chairman. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association. He has worked and even working in various top-level organizations. He is a great Nigerian that has made a spectacular land-mark, and cannot be forgotten.
Mr David A. Adeleke, professionally known as ‘Davido’, a son of Nigerian billionaire, businessman and founder/president of Adeleke University, is another rich kid who has effectively make use of his wealthy background coupled with his hard-work to affect his generation. Davido, 27, an American-born singer, songwriter and record producer have made lots of hit tracks and albums. He has been active since 2010, Davido rose to fame after releasing “Dami Duro” the second single from his debut studio album ‘Omo baba Olowo’ in 2012. Ever since then back to back he has continually made lots of hit singles and collaboration tracks of songs. He (Davido) is an amazing vocalist who has made his family and the Nigeria music industry proud at various levels, having bangs so many awards.
Still, in the Nigeria music industry, Florence I. Otedola, popularly known as ‘Cuppy’ who is a daughter of billionaire, Femi Otedola a businessman, former Chairman of Forte Oil PLC, an importer of fuel products, and the Founder of Zenon Petroleum. Cuppy, 27, is one of the few ladies who made it big in Nigeria music industry, even as a disc jockey (DJ), record producer and remixer. DJ Cuppy has been active since 2013 and still relevant up-till date. Currently, she is an African Ambassador of Apple, where she always direct Africans music shows at Apple Music on every Sunday. DJ Cuppy has recently upgraded her music career to singing, she recently releases an Album called “Original Copy” with twelve tracks. She has been a role model to many ladies who believe disc jockey is impossible for the female gender. DJ Cuppy has been nothing but a successful musician who has boldly written her name into Nigeria Music, have bagged lots of awards and signed so many mouth-watering deals locally and internationally. All these are due to the assiduous effort and unrelenting quest she has been putting in place.
The list of them making great land-mark is endless, thus, it is obvious that hardworking, diligence, perseverance is the key to success. It is noted that being brought up in a wealthy background is not enough to make a spectacular success or failure in any profession, it is all down to the effort and passion input into the profession.
