The Twitter icon on a screen

‘Oya Do Giveaway’ Crew, Say Hello to Tip Jar, Twitter’s New Feature!

Have you ever come across a tweet that was so funny, inspiring or informative, that you wanted to send the Twitter user some cash? Or maybe you’re an online creator looking for a seamless way for your followers to ‘support your ministry’ or even send you some cash on your birthday or graduation.

Well, Twitter’s latest feature is here to help! Yesterday, the platform announced ‘Tip Jar’, ‘a new way to give and receive money on Twitter’. With this feature, you can support those individuals and organizations whose work, content, and conversations help to keep your timeline interesting and motivating—and you can receive money, as well.

Tip Jar—which rolled out yesterday on iOS and Android— enables you to ‘tip’ someone by tapping on the Tip Jar icon on their profile. So, you can get generous and send some cash to your favourite designer, artist, content creator, or friends, and receive money as well. The feature enables payments via platforms such as Bandcamp, Cash App, Patreon, PayPal, and Venmo. And the best part? Twitter doesn’t take any share of the cash!

So, if there is a certain personality or influencer you admire from afar because their quality jokes, banter, and advice always keep your timeline lively and interesting or an organization that is doing meaningful and excellent work, you can encourage them with some funds.

Tip Jar is currently not enabled for all users but it will be rolled out for more users soon, so don’t fret.

This new feature is just one of the exciting ways Twitter is making the platform more exciting and in tune with the latest trends. They recently launched Spaces, a feature that lets you host and join live audio conversations on Twitter. With Spaces, you can enjoy live banter with other users, participate in virtual singing competitions and join conversations on your favourite topics.

The platform has also taken away its ‘notorious’ crop feature, so you can view any photo on your feed in all its glory. We can’t wait to see what they roll out next!
