There is always something to do. You’re either reading for an exam, hurrying to class or rushing to work; other times, it could be your finances. There are so many expenses to take care of that sparing change for something so minute and inconsequential as medical check-up or test, become the last thing on your mind.
But then again, there are significant signs and symptoms our body gives to us that if ignored, could result in hospitalization or worst still, disease and eventually death.
So what are these signs that we should not ignore?
1. Constant Fatigue
Of course, everyone gets tired. But, unless you’re carrying concrete or heavy metals every day, you have no business being tired all the time. If this is the case, then you should see your doctor like this, if ignored, can lead to hypothyroidism, depression or anaemia.
2. Chest pain
That is how heart attacks start o. But of course, having chest pain doesn’t mean you’ve joined the heart attack club. You can say ‘God forbid’ now. But, according to WebMD, there are other conditions such as asthma, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and oesophagal contraction disorders. Big words, hunh? See your doctor, he/she knows better.
3. Cough
The season for the flu is still on, and people are always passing cough, cold and catarrh, so there is no need to panic if you are among the infected. But when the season is up, and yours is still lingering for a month or two, then you should see your doctor.
4. Excretion Routine
Too much or too little urination are signs of various illnesses. Also, when your stool or urinary routine is changing and causing discomfort along the stomach and abdominal region, you need to visit the doctor in case of an infection.
5. Excessive weight loss
To lose weight, especially when you’re a plus-size can be thrilling. But what isn’t so exciting is when you continue to drop off pounds. The New York Times stated that a sudden unexplainable drop in weight might result in depression, certain types of cancer, chronic infections and worse still, AIDS.

6. Terrible headaches
If you are not one to usually have a migraine, Cleaveland Clinic says it could be a symptom of a brain aneurysm, amongst others such as stress, glaucoma, or arthritis. Hurry, see a doctor.
7. Shortness of breath
It can stem from intense exercise, extreme temperatures, high altitude, or obesity, the usual stuff. But when it becomes worse, it could indicate asthma, carbon monoxide poisoning, or heart failure. Just see your doctor, to avoid anything serious.
8. Toothache
It doesn’t necessarily mean you have a disease, as problems of a toothache can range from biting into something hard, flossing, getting something stuck in between the teeth or braces. These are everyday issues. But when it becomes a hole in the teeth or pus which can lead to infection and loss of teeth, you should see a dentist ASAP.
9. Blurry Vision
Now, this is very serious. If your vision suddenly starts to change or blur, you need to see the doctor. VisionAware says ignoring the changes in your eyesight can lead to retinopathy, glaucoma or worse still, blindness.
10. Abdominal pain
Abdominal pain ranges from appendicitis, gall bladder disease to life-threatening conditions, such as a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. Scary, right? The more reason why you should visit the doctor if the pain is not as a result of a strenuous workout or constipation and has lasted for more than three days.
