Tips to launch a successful crowdfunding campaign (Pt 1)

Did you know you could raise money for anything through crowdfunding? Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the internet. It’s a modern and effective means of sourcing for funds.

Want to get the most out of crowdfunding? Follow steps below:

1. Share your story

The first thing you need to do is to share your story. Your story should highlight who you are, what you plan to do, where your project idea came from, what your budget is and why you are passionate about your project or business idea. It is also important that you share a value proposition to those who will fund you, as that portrays a good sense of partnership. Plus, do a compelling header image or video to communicate your story.

2. Make sure to offer great rewards

People will support your idea or project if they think it’s worthwhile. So, you need to have amazing perks for people who are pledging, too. This is not to say you should overblow things; promise just what you will be able to fulfill.

3. Set a funding goal

In crowdfunding, different platforms have different funding models (policies). Kickstarter and Indiegogo are examples of some crowdfunding platforms you can try. Before you log on, however, it’s equally important that you think about how much money you will need to get your business up and running. Be very wise about this, you won’t be able to change your funding goal once you have launched your crowdfunding campaign.

4. Promote your campaign

Once you are done with step 3, you can now start promoting your campaign via any or all of these platforms: social media, bloggers and traditional media (to allow you get a lot more coverage for your campaign). You can also host a live event to increase engagement for your campaign. Please note that you should put in 100% of your time and effort to make the most of it.
