Over the years, some international female singers have used their songs to carve a niche for themselves. Their soul-stirring and entertaining songs have won them lots of endorsements and deals, increased their popularity and help them change the lives of many.

These female artists are quite a number but, check out the list of our five (5) greatest singers of all time below:

1. Madonna – This remarkable artiste who never stops reinventing herself is the seven times Grammy Award winner. She has sold up to three hundred million records and CDs to her fans worldwide.

2. Diana Ross – Diana Ross started singing in the Baptist church’s choir and later left to start a career in music. She rose to fame as the lead singer of the vocal group “The Supreme” during the 1960s and in 1970, she departed the group to release her eponymous debut solo album that same year. Ever since she has been releasing strings of hit singles that constantly topped the charts.

3. Aretha Franklin – Aretha Franklin was a famous R’n’B singer known as the “Grammy-winning Queen of Soul”. She was also the first black to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She stood out in the civil rights movement for her single “Respect” with Otis Redding.

4. Tina Turner – Tina Turner up till date, remains the most commercially-successful international female rock star. Her powerful voice, time-tested beauty, and her unforgettable stories are the things that all contribute to her legendary status.

5. Whitney Houston – Whitney, a cousin of Aretha Franklin, was born into a musical family where she picked up singing. Asides that, she was a choir member before she started a career in music. She was the first female artist to debut and keep the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 album chart with the song “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, and held down the position for 11 weeks.
