9 Things That Will Make A Nigerian Happy Anytime

There are lots of things that can bring joy to a man and they could also differ for different people. But there are certain things that will make a typical Nigerian happy anytime and you can debate it if you want.

Nigerians are a special breed. You will probably agree once you scroll down the list and when you do, tell us what you think!

Up NEPA

Whether you need it to charge your phone or watch a programme on TV or even pump water, it doesn’t matter. There is a joy that comes with the bulb lighting up. ‘Let there be light!’ Even though NEPA doesn’t supply general electricity anymore, Nigerians are still fond of calling it that.

Paycheck

Hehe! The alarm has come. Who will not be happy to receive their salary? Money that you already spent before it touched the account? Abeg o, let Nigerians be happy in peace.

Owambe

An opportunity to wear Aso Ebi and show off the latest work of your tailor. Oh yes, Nigerians are happy. It could also be the atmosphere of the party, meeting people that will help take off the stress of the week’s work.

No traffic

Have you moved through a town in Nigeria you know to be a traffic jam zone and there was miraculously no traffic? Oh, the joy. With your mouth open and smiling from ear to ear dreaming of traffic-free Nigeria. Nna, wake up.

When a celebrity likes or follows their page

There was once a trend where a young lady claimed Davido followed her on Instagram. True or not, folks were alarmed at her joy, screaming and running on the street because she believed she had been noticed by a celebrity. Awww.

A visa to Canada

Getting a Visa to Canada and other countries for Nigerians warrants a testimony in church. Some throw parties, while others will keep quiet so that no one jinxes it. And when they are abroad, they will text you ‘Guy, I dey Yanki o’. LOL

Passing Post UME once

Hehe! Is it easy? Some people are even writing JAMB five(5) times and you managed to gain admission into the University on your first try with connection? Go ahead and be glad, oh ye Nigerian. You deserve it.

Party Jollof

You can play with other meals, but you see this party Jollof, it can cause a problem if you don’t give a Nigerian at a party. What is the whole point of going if you don’t eat it? That is why we have the original ‘Mo gbo, mo ya’, they saw it and they branched to partake, even though they were not invited. The smell of party Jollof, especially the bottom pot, is the life of the party. Ask any Naija party expert.

Public holiday

Nigerians like public holidays like the air they breathe. Labour Day, Easter break, Democracy Day, Eid al Fitr, Christmas, Prophet’s birthday, Independence Day…should we go on? It doesn’t matter what we are celebrating, as long as a Nigerian gets to spend it outside work, he/she is happy.
