Six cliques you will find on Campus

There are several cliques you will find in Nigerian tertiary institutions? Some of these include:

1. The Spirikokos

These are the spiritual students, nicknamed ‘Spirikoko’. Their lives are usually in the form of a triangle; from hostel to class, to religious houses. If you’d like to join them, get ready to step up your spiritual game!

2. The Scholasticas

The names they call this group are endless – Jackophites, Jackie (with a stressed ‘ie’), Efiko, Scholaa, sabi-boy or girl, etc. These types burn midnight candles and see reading or Jacking, as some students would call it, as a hobby (can you believe that?). Also, they usually occupy the front seats in lecture halls. Some of them could be snobbish, while others could be absolutely delightful. It’s really a cool group to be a part of, especially if you are bent on attaining outstanding academic excellence. Just be ready for serious work.

3. The Fashionistas

Also known as the “Red-carpet crew”, these ones are about looks and trends. Usually, they arrive late to class, just to get everyone’s attention when they stroll in majestically. They are a sight to behold! If you’re planning to join this group, then you had better make sure you have a fat wallet or be ready to get broke trying to keep up.

4. Student Mothers/Fathers

A lot of these students tend to be older than the rest of their level mates, so they assign themselves the role of school fathers and mothers. At times, they assume this role for relevance or for the sake of counselling the younger ones.

5. Full-Time turned Part-Time Students

You can literally count on ten (10) fingers, how many times you see these group in a semester. They are full-time students, who show up in class less than part-time students. This is because they are usually engrossed in one activity or the other that keeps them away from class.

6. Unmarried Couples

Have you met students of the opposite sex who take joy in co-habiting? You’d find a lot of them in the university. They get yoked with a boy or girl whom they are in an intimate relationship with and live together for as long as the relationship lasts. They act like married couples, doing almost everything together, except they are not actually married. If you want to be in this crew, the only requirement is to get a partner and move in with them.

Very importantly, you should know that the clique you join makes or mars you.
