Are you a student in a Nigerian tertiary institution? Do you enjoy reading at night on campus? If yes, you can probably relate to some these:
1. The preachers
When students are quietly reading, you see them stroll in and ask for a few minutes of their time. The nice preachers keep to the allotted time and leave to go read their books; while the other type of preachers don’t. You either bundle him out or listen to him rain down fire and brimstone for about a hour, if you’re lucky.
2. The dozers
These categories of students actually come to class with the intention to read but sleep off few minutes into the activity. They are better off reading in the daytime.
3. The homeless
Students like these do not have a hostel or where to sleep. So, when they find a quiet room with students reading, they join in, head for the back and usually have the sole aim of sleeping. In some cases, non-students and hobos are the major perpetrators. They take advantage of every opportunity to sneak into school unnoticed – some go as far as carrying big bags which contain all their belongings.
4. The lovers
Some hostels make it difficult for couples to have alone time. They’d rather wait until nighttime and go to the classes under the guises that they are there to read. Of course, they end up spending the night gisting or cuddling. Little or no reading is done by these students.

5. The digitals
Distracted in the morning, distracted in the night. They are way too obsessed with the gadgets that give them unlimited social media access. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google… they never seem to get enough. They came out to the night-class because they were distracted by these apps during regular class in the day. Surprisingly, they continue the cycle in the night-class too.
Many students go to classes at night to read and increase in knowledge, making up for lost time during the day. However, other students go with a different agenda in mind.
