Meet Dideolu Olasogba, Our Flexxpreneur Of The Month! (9MOBILE 7290 2899 7941 957)
Hey Flexxers!
Say hello to Dideolu, our Flexxpreneur for July!
Inspired by the need to create a source of income for herself and be less dependent on others, Dideolu Olasogba founded 22 Jewelry Co.; a brand that focuses on the creation and curation of beautiful custom and non-custom jewelry.
In her exclusive interview with us as our “Flexxpreneur of the Month”, she tells us her lowest point, plans for the future and everything in- between.
Here’s her journey….
Let’s meet you (Your name, what you do and where you are from)
My name is Dideolu Olasogba. I am a ‘jewelrypreneur’ and writer from Ondo state, Nigeria
How long have you been doing this?
4 years
What inspired you to go into business?
I was about graduating and needed a source of income, as I didn’t want to depend on anyone for basic things of life. That and the fact that I wanted to build something for myself inspired me to start the business.
What are the challenges you face as a young entrepreneur?
One major challenge is finance. Money is important to run a lot of things in my line of business. Another is customer acquisition and retention. Having to convince people to buy from me is a lot of work, especially because some dubious individuals have implanted distrust in them and it affects businesses like us who thrive more online. Plus, it’s also difficult to get them to buy again because of the unfavourable economy and the longevity of the products.
What was your highest and lowest point since you started this journey?
I have no highest point yet but my lowest point would be when my manufacturing partners in China messed up a whole batch of custom jewelry order🥺. It was a terrible period for me as I had to make refunds to customers who couldn’t wait for a remake. I never want to experience that again😁
What do you aim to achieve in the next 12 months in relation to your business?
In the next twelve months, I hope to create more jewelry than ever for people both in and outside of Nigeria. I hope to preach the sweet gospel- that everyone’s name is beautiful and unique and thus deserves to be crafted into the most beautiful jewelry.
What are your short and long-term goals?
Short term goal is to put my brand out there as much as possible and in the long run build a strong brand that’ll not only adorn people but also impact lives through trainings and employment opportunities.
Which individuals do you get inspiration from and why?
God is my biggest inspiration and a host of other women-in-business out there who have succeeded in their various niches and gone ahead to build an empire for themselves.
How do you unwind?
I write and listen to soothing music.
What advice would you give your fellow Flexxers who are on this path?
What is worth doing at all is worth doing well. Failure and rejection can bother you but it shouldn’t deter you from your vision. Invest wisely in yourself and business. Most importantly, involve God in all that you do.
