TALE OF STRONG BLACK WOMEN (MTN 7907 4722 0880 96261)
By Janet Caleb
Born to be strong, born to be wrong
We speak courage, faith and devotion
Mothers of children with spirits so strong who may have unbridled imagination
Seeking survival at all cost though we were never meant to survive
We are seen as a threat for being strong for we were imprinted with fear like a faint line in the center of our heads
Learning to be afraid with our mother’s milk
The heavy-footed hoped to silence us, our compassionate and loving heart was seen as a weakness
We still spoke and stood strong never letting our fear way us down
Generations come through us
We are great beings.
