What’s there to like about a horror movie? Is it the adrenaline pump that comes with it or the thrill of not knowing what is going to happen next?
Whatever the reasons, it obviously has a huge fan base, if not we won’t keep having fans of movies such as Saw and Final Destination.
There are two kinds of horror movie watchers:
1. Those scared out of their mind but still want to watch it
Being scared isn’t all that bad, it could even create room for more suspense and their ways you can watch a horror movie without a heart attack.
Remember it’s fiction
We sometimes get carried away while watching a movie. It helps to always be reminded that it is not real. Go over the movie cast, familiarise yourself with the actors and watch the ‘behind the scenes’ if possible.
Make fun of the movie
One thing everyone can agree on when watching a horror movie is how ridiculous or mindless the killings are. Having a good laugh and shaking your head at it, can help make it less scary.
Fast forward or mute
When you get to a part that is too gruesome, simply fast forward it or mute the sound out so that you don’t go to bed hearing screams or waking up to a nightmare.
Watch it in the daytime
We are often told that evil works best in the dark. To avoid thinking every night is a chance for evil, you can choose to watch it in the daytime.
Watch it with a friend
Another way you can watch without panicking is to watch it with a friend. They can help distract and take your mind off the horror of it all.

Watch at the cinema
You’re doing it for the screams, the laughs, and the general vibe of everyone being pumped up at one movie. The thrill is so much more fun.
Watch on a cold night
It enhances an eerie atmosphere, a cold night with rain splattering on the roof will do just the trick. You can also put off the light and get ready to be spooked.
Binge-watch it
Pick a day you can lazy around, a day without much responsibility and lots of time in your hands. Then settle and watch hours of episodes.
Have a nice meal and eat slowly for hours
Food and movies are a good combination. Add your popcorn, pizza or chicken buckets to the menu and slow-eat it. Take your time, you don’t want the meal finishing ahead of the movie.
