If there’s one thing—asides from a nightmare—that can shake you out of a peaceful nap, it’s the sound of a generator. It will make you wake up with a loud hiss, sulking and angry. The whirring sounds are simply too annoying but unfortunately, we’ve become too used to them.

This is another sound that will wake you up—unless you’re a deep sleeper—because contrary to generators, sirens are usually an indicator of light.
