Malcolm & Marie
‘Malcolm & Marie’ was the first feature film to be written, shot and produced during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shot in black and white, the film is an intimate portrait of the titular couple— played by Zendaya and John David Washington—whose relationship tilts towards the brink of disaster on the night of the man’s film premiere. While wouldn’t particularly call this film romantic, it paints a picture of the kind of partner to avoid if you want a great relationship. 👀
Namaste Wahala
Nollywood and Bollywood have joined forces for the crossover we never knew we needed- a blissful romantic film. ‘Namaste Whala’ follows two young lovers whose encounter on the beach leads to a romance that is threatened by their opposing parents and different cultural backgrounds. Both Nollywood and Bollywood know how to pull the stops when it comes to big romantic films, so this is a must-watch. It stars Ini Dinma-Okojie and Ruslaan Mumtaz, amongst others.
Valentine’s Day
It doesn’t get more perfect than an eponymous movie named after the special day itself. This rom-com follows several couples navigating their relationships, and others in the search for love. The film boasts some of the biggest stars- Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Taylor Swift, and more.
About Time
Imagine using your time-travel abilities to follow the woman you love. This beautiful love story follows a young man who meets the love of his life for the first time — again and again, and gets opportunities to win her heart.
To All The Boys Always and Forever
Peter and Lara are back for the final instalment of the ‘To All The Boys’ series. In the film, the end of high school is here and the beginning of adulthood opens up new opportunities for Lara. Noah Centineo and Lana Condor return to reprise their roles, alongside other charming stars.
Sylvie’s Love
The romantic spirit of jazz comes alive in ‘Sylvie’s Love’. The film follows Sylvie, played beautifully by Tessa Thompson, who meets Robert, a saxophonist, played by Nnamdi Asomugha at her father’s Harlem record store. The two meet again, years later, to discover that the spark of their love still burns bright. Other stars in the movie include Rege -Jean Page, Aja Naomi King and Ryan Michelle Bathe, among others.
