It is quite safe to say many didn’t meet up with their financial goals in 2020 and can’t wait for a new year to start so that they can re-group and come up with a new strategy. While that isn’t a bad idea, it is possible to still make extra cash before the year runs out.
If you are looking to make some money this December, here are a few legal ways;
1. Sell crafts and gifts
Are you at crafting or making ornaments? Now, will be a good time to put that talent to good use. Christmas cards, stars, bells, lights and other items used for the season can be made and sold. You can also sell gift items, like watches, cufflinks and other stuff people will be willing to wrap up as Christmas gifts.
2. Decorate for the holiday
Not everyone will have the time to decorate their homes or workplace for Christmas. Approach companies or personnel you think will be interested in embracing the Christmas spirit and offer to decorate for a fee.
3. Organise Christmas parties
The year might not have gone as planned, but there will be companies and individuals looking to throw a party for their company or friends. Come on, it’s the end of a tough year. Who wouldn’t want to celebrate that? If you are good with parties, you can make good money from it.
4. Offer sales discount
Make Christmas bonanza banners and post on your social media pages. If you are an online trader, offer discounts like Black Friday, or offer free souvenirs, coupons and the likes.
5. Catering services
Aside from Christmas parties, there will be proposals, weddings, birthdays, amongst other celebrations. There will be a lot of parties to cater for and we know Nigerians love their food. If you are a good caterer or cook, here’s your chance to dazzle and make money while you are at it.

They are also called gift baskets. Many organizations will be offering this to their staff, shops will have them for sale. Wrap up gift baskets filled with selective groceries or provisions, even fruits. Advertise and promote on social media and start selling!
7. Graphic Designs
Almost every business, whether big or small scale, will want to wish their customers ‘Merry Christmas’ or thank them for their patronage all through the year. Not all of them have a digital advertising agency on retainers so now will be a good time to shine as a graphic designer, making colourful creatives for different individuals.
8. Mobile DJ
DJ on the wheels! You need a vehicle for this one. Everyone loves extra. If you are good with compiling music together, with all the parties lined up, you, your laptop and speakers, will be set to move from party to party.
9. Rental business
Parties will be needing canopies, venues, chairs, tables, cooking utensils, pots and pans and so on. Have these items available for rent and you will be making the extra money in no time.
10. Ice blocks
If you think this isn’t lucrative, ask those who do it full time. All you need is a steady power supply. If you have that, you are in business. Events that do not have refrigerators on-site always need ice blocks for their drinks and water.
