We already had WhatsApp groups before the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused folks to stay home. As a result, more groups started for business, religious and socialising purposes.
Even though you aren’t an influencer or one who has a lot of social media friends, now, you can wake up in the morning and see over a thousand unread messages waiting for you, no jokes.
What kind of people do you meet on group chat? Let’s find out!
1. The ones always sharing broadcasts
Sometimes, you wonder if they go through the messages themselves before forwarding it. Their job is to keep flooding the group with prayers, preachings, job alerts and any news that is long and has ‘Read more’ attached to it.
2. Sends messages intended for someone else by mistake
You could wake up and see random voice notes waiting to be listened to. Only to play it and find out it’s a girl gisting her mother about her new catch. These types sure let on a lot of secrets by mistake.
3. The life of the group chat
If no one has spoken to the group for like two days, they’ll suddenly ask… ‘Why is this place so dull?’ They are the life of the group and always keep it going by engaging in exciting chats. MTN- 6777 4279 4082 52497
4. Always asking for contributions
This kind is either asking for the group to contribute towards a get-together or chatting group members privately to beg for money.
5. You do not know they belong there
They never chip in or acknowledge their presence in the group. They are very quiet and make no contributions whatsoever to the group.

6. They actually do not belong
Have you ever discovered in your Alumni group a particular person no one knew but was always commenting and asking people to invest in Ponzi schemes? They sometimes turn out to be fraudsters who have stolen someone else’s identity, or they joined the group by stumbling on the link.

7. They always pick offence
You better watch your joke, or they will pick offence. Every sarcastic remark on the group is indirectly directed at them, and they will insult, defend and threaten to leave the group. They are the folks that bring in the drama the group needs to stay afloat.
8. The peacemakers
The middlemen. The mentor and the peacemakers. When there is a dispute in the group, they are always ready to pour cold water to quench the fire. They would go as far as chatting group members involved in the falling out, privately.
9. The Marketers
‘Please, go and like my Instagram page’. One minute, the group is talking about starting a financial cooperative, the next, someone is sending images of their contest on Instagram and asking everyone to go like their page. They are always selling something and interrupting the conversations with their wares.
10. Left the group
As soon as the group is starting and everyone is introducing themselves, they quietly with no prior notice, remove themselves from the group. Have you been guilty of this?
