1. Ali Baba
The King of Comedy himself. Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome is a famous Nigerian stand-up comedian, television host, master of ceremony, actor and a television personality. He is one of the founding fathers of comedy in Nigeria and has helped to discover several Nigerian comedians.
2. Basket mouth
Bright Okpocha, better known by his stage name Basketmouth, is well known for his comedy and series. Over the years, he has held ‘Basketmouth Uncensored’ which has always been a success with a lot of positive reviews. Basketmouth, who is also an actor, is a lead actor in the Africa Magic comedy show ‘My Flatmates’ which is still running till date.
3. Bovi
Who remembers “Extended Family”? Anyone who followed the series when it aired would know that Bovi was destined for success as a comedian. Abovi Ugboma popularly known as Bovi is a Nigerian comedian, producer, director, actor and writer. He has also secured several brand endorsements over the years.
4. AY
What can one say about Ayo Makun? He has earned his place as one of Nigeria’s biggest comedic exports with his annual comedy and music concert, ‘AY Live’. Also, his blockbuster comedy films such as ’10 Days in Sun City’, ’10 days in Atlanta’ and the ‘Merry Men’ Series, all of which he produced and starred in.
5. Seyi Law
Lawrence Oluwaseyitan Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, was the winner of AY’s Open Mic Comedy Challenge back in 2006. Since then, he has risen to become one of the top comedians in Nigeria. He is known for his incredible stand-up comedy, his annual show ‘Fast and Funny’, as well as his hilarious movie appearances.

6. Buchi
Onyebuchi Ojieh is a stand-up comedian, writer, composer, among other things. The LLB holder has become a force in the comedy industry with his thrilling live performances and appearances in the comedy TV show ‘My Flatmates’ and the online series ‘Mambo & Bonnyface’ with fellow comedian Basketmouth.
7. Okey Bakassi
Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule is lauded as one of the legendary comedians in Naija, as he paved the way for other comedians in the industry. His career spans over two decades, and he has proven to be one of the industry’s best acts. He has performed at several comedy shows and starred in movies such as ‘Onye Ozi’. He has also authored a book ‘The Memoirs of an African Comedian’ and was the host of ‘The Other News’ a satirical news program on Channels TV.
8. Akpororo
He is loud, and him alone can represent the full Warri community with his craziness. He is a Nigerian stand-up comedian, gospel artiste and actor who won AY’s Open Mic Challenge years ago and has since become a staple in several stand-up comedy shows, including his own
‘Akpororo vs Akpororo’ annual show.
The comedian fuses music with comedy in a spectacular way, leaving his audience in fits of laughter.
9. UshBebe
You’d catch him being hilarious in the old ‘AY Crib’ sitcom. This Urhobo guy, Justice Emonaerere Nuagbe is one of Nigeria’s biggest comedic acts with appearances in movies such as ‘The Big Fat Lie’ and ‘Ghetto Bred’. He also helms his own successful annual; comedy show, ‘The Chronicles of Ushbebe’. He is also a compere and On-Air Personality.
