Rice has an unofficial Nigerian passport at this point. It’s undoubtedly our staple meal, and it’s almost impossible to go a whole week without eating it. The reason for rice’s popularity is its versatility- from good old white rice and stew to jollof rice, fried rice, Mexican rice, ofada rice, coconut rice and more.
Beans
The versatility of beans is undeniable. You can make it into bean porridge, give it a ‘designer’ touch with ewa agoyin, blend it and make it into bean pudding (aka moi–moi) or bean cakes (akara)
