The Lockdown Has Been A Humbling Experience for These Reasons

It’s day 345690 of lockdown (yes, we put random figures there) for those of us who are still at home and we can all admit that it has been a pretty humbling experience. A lot of people have had to make lifestyle adjustments and get accustomed to the drastic changes that have occurred.

Here are some ways this lockdown has proven to be humbling:

For those who can only cook two or three meals, this has been a pretty trying time. From looking up recipes online to watching Food Network and calling friends/ family for advice, they’ve appreciated the importance of knowing how to cook. Making yourself a decent meal after several failed attempts (and probably even one or two burnt offerings) feels like a huge win.

Doing Your Laundry

Okay, this one hurts. Having to do your laundry after enjoying the comfort of giving your clothes to dry cleaners for a long time is a humbling experience. You suddenly realize how incredibly tough it is to wash bed sheets and sweatpants. Oh, towels too. Ugh. You simply have to find a way to make it enjoyable.

Unless you’re a ‘genius’ who can cut your own hair, you probably have to look at your excessive hair and untrimmed beard during lockdown season in the mirror almost every hour and realize how much of a caveman you have become. You’ve probably also started wearing caps and bandanas as damage control.

Having to Stay Home

With restrictions on our movement, we’ve started to appreciate the simple things, like staying at home and enjoying the comfort of our own space. While this isn’t particularly enjoyable, we’ve realized that being a homebody isn’t so bad after all.
