1. The OSCARS
The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, is the film industry’s awards for creativity and technical excellence. The 92nd Academy Awards held on the 10th of February 2020, 02:00 am WAT and had a surprise performance by Eminem.
2. The Grammys
The 62nd Grammy Awards took place on January 26th 2020, with Billy Eilish sweeping away several awards. The Grammy is an award presented by The Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry.
This year, our homeboy, Burna Boy, was nominated but didn’t win. Better luck next time.
3. Golden Globe
The Golden Globe are accolades bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association recognizing excellence in film, both American and Internationally.
4. AMVCA
Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is an annual accolade presented by ‘Multichoice’, recognizing outstanding achievement in television and film.
On 9 March 2013, the inaugural AMVCA ceremony took place in Lagos State, Nigeria and was broadcast live in over 50 countries. Nominations for the 2020 edition are currently on, so, you can still be a part of it.
5. AMMA
The 16th Edition of the African Movie Academic Awards(AMMA) will be held on the 25th of October 2020 in Lagos Nigeria and will be televised globally. More win for Nollywood!

6. The Headies
The last Headies was epic. It took place on October 19, 2019, at the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. It was themed “Power of a Dream”, and hosted by Nigerian rapper, Reminisce and actress/media personality, Nancy Isime.
7. MTV Video Music
An MTV Video Music is an award given by cable channel MTV to recognize the best in video music media.
8. Sound City MVP
The Soundcity MVP Awards Festival is an event presented by Soundcity TV which gives plaques to musicians and performers across Africa. The last Soundcity MVP held in January this year with Burna Boy, Davido and Teni catering away with many awards.
9. BET
Strictly black! In 2001, the Black Entertainment Television network established the BET Awards to celebrate African Americans and other American minorities in music, acting, sports, and other entertainment fields over the past year.
10. AFRIMA
All Africa Music Awards(AFRIMA) is an annual awards event. It was established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage.
