A Tale Of The Financial Woes of Detty December, As Told By Pawpaw

So, in December, we wrote an article about enjoying Detty December without staining your account. Some of you listened and well, some of you, didn’t.

Take the guy in this article, for example. He was quite reckless during December and he’s still facing the consequences.

Here’s a quick timeline of how Detty December did wonders to his bank account:

December 20th

He received his salary for December with a cool bonus- 13th-month pay. He got super excited, and started planning his rocks- actually, he didn’t.

December 25th

He started blowing his funds with immediate alacrity. Parte after parte, livin’ da vida loca. He was turning up at a concert one night, dancing zanku at a party the next day and eating fancy food at restaurants on the other. He went on a shopping spree, blew money on data and spent some money on his bae too. Hmm.

December 30th

He took a little break to hibernate and let his bank account rest for a while. He realized his bank account was taking a hit little by little after some calculations but he was too carried away to look further.

January 1st

He hit the ground running. New Year rocks are the sweetest, after all, aren’t they? Some more zeros left his account. His account was crying and begging for mercy. Did he listen? No, he decided to send his ATM cards on more errands, spending more money and chopping life. Zero regards for the consequences. Zero.

January 10th

He put two and two together and realized that it wasn’t equal to four anymore. He looked at your bank account and started to wonder who was responsible for its current state. After some introspection, he discovered that it was….him. Shocker.

January 25th

He’s been unusually quiet at the office and home. Everyone thinks he’s turned over a new leaf and trying to talk less this year. What they don’t realize is that he’s lost in his thoughts. ‘Oluwa wetin dey happen? Wetin dey occur?’. The same thoughts keep running through his mind.

January 42nd

He’s started trying out combinations with the food he never knew could go together. His eating habits are getting imbalanced. He has become picky about where he eats because his choices are limited at this point. If he hadn’t bought drinks for all his friends to impress them during Christmas, he’d still have some money now. Too bad.

January 55th

‘They say January is always the longest month, but this one has been the longest, whew! Why isn’t the month running any faster? Who’s in charge of the calendar and daylight savings? Can we make this month go already?’ He’s worried and he can’t seem to chill.

January 91st

Bruh. It’s still January. How many days have gone by this year? 50? 80? He’s lost count at this point. He’s just floating through time at this point. The fact that he’s made it through this point is a miracle.
