It’s a good trait to always be willing to take up new tasks and challenges, but you should consider your capabilities and know when you are getting overwhelmed. Your performance won’t be judged by how many tasks you agreed to take up, but by how many you were able to deliver on.

New ideas spring up every day and beyond what you are used to, there could be several ways to accomplish a task. Learn to adapt to new ways of doing things, and be creative in finding solutions to problems at work.

3. Worrying too much about your next career move

It might be tempting to keep thinking about your next career jump, while you’re still at your current job. However, if you are not careful, this might affect your productivity at work, which in turn could lead to you losing your job.

4. Lacking the courage to push back when necessary

Sometimes, there could be an error in the system or miscommunication of tasks at the workplace. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or push back tasks that aren’t logical or could cast doubts on your competency when you accept them.

5. Always identifying problems instead of solving them

It reflects badly on you to always be the one pointing out all the problems and errors in almost every task, without necessarily proffering a solution. Be a problem-solver, and not a problem finder.
