Allergies are physical responses to foreign substances in or on your body. These foreign substances are called allergens. Allergies can be triggered by eating certain foods, using the wrong skin products, living with certain pets or coming in contact with pollen grains from flowers.
The reactions often come in different forms and are peculiar to each individual. The symptoms could be sneezing, redness, swellings and rashes, amongst others.
Allergies occur when your immune system perceives these foreign substances as a potential threat to your body and the reactions are its way of attacking them.

Food allergy
It usually takes a longer period for a person to notice they have food allergy compared to skin- and other types of allergies. The symptoms include swelling, extreme fatigue and many more.
Seasonal allergy
This mostly comes at a particular time of the year – during the harmattan season. Some people get redness of the eye, watery eyes, patchy skin, runny nose, and congestion etc.

- Plants, etc.

Allergy treatment
The first treatment for allergies is to stay away from whatever triggers it. Secondly, visit a physician to properly prescribe the right medication for the specific type of allergy you may be encountering.
