Different NYSC CDS groups

From the inception of the NYSC scheme in 1973, corps members have been sectioned into groups to participate in a Community Development Service (CDS). This enactment programme gets all corps members to participate and contribute to the social, political and economic development of their host communities. Just finished from NYSC orientation camp?   1. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND SANITATION

Members of this group push for a healthier environment. They conduct routine sanitation at marketplaces, schools, and highways; while enlightening them in the process. In addition, they encourage tree planting, drainage clearance, etc.

2. CULTURAL AND TOURISM

This group is designed to showcase the art and culture of Nigeria. Corps members are expected to help illuminate the history, culture and heritage of their host community. They also represent their state in the national competition organized by NYSC.

3. MEDICAL AND HEALTH SERVICES

Medical graduates are naturally drawn to this CDS group, which enlightens the people on health-related issues.

4. GENDER DESK OFFICE

Members of this group educate the community on gender equality, while curtailing any maltreatment on any gender.

5. DRUG-FREE AND QUALITY CONTROL GROUP (NAFDAC, NDLEA)

This group sensitizes the community on the consequences of consuming hard drugs, and the need to only use prescribed drugs.

6. REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND HIV/AIDS GROUP

This group teaches the community on the risks of the deadly disease HIV/AIDS, and how it can be prevented. It also sensitizes people living with the disease on how to take proper care of themselves.

7. BEAUTIFICATION AND MAINTENANCE

They work hand-in-hand with the environmental sanitation CDS group to enhance the aesthetic look of the community.
