Preparing for harmattan : the essentials

When the air is dusty, the sun is scorching and getting out of bed in the morning is a struggle because of the cold, then you know for sure that the Harmattan season is back! The dry season is slowly creeping back in (although most northern and eastern states in Nigeria have started to experience harmattan in full swing) it is important that we keep our bodies and health in check against the harsh conditions of the harmattan season.

Face Caps

Due of the scorching harmattan sun at mid-day, face caps are a perfect shield from having your face burned. Face caps are equally vital during Harmattan to ward off dust on your hair

Comfortable Clothing

Harmattan mornings may be chilly but the heat turns up at mid-day so it is important that you wear breathable, comfortable cotton clothing that keeps the cold away in the morning and adjust to the heat at noon.

Sunglasses

Since the dry season brings a lot of dust and dirt, sunglasses are the perfect deflections against dirt and dust in your eye. Also, they add an edgy look to your outfit.

 

Lip Balm

Lip Balm is a major essential during Harmattan because chapped lips aren’t healthy or attractive.

Fruits and Vegetables

Your skin is prone to lacking lustre during the dry season and its natural shine cannot be gotten from your body lotion alone so it is crucial that you load up on fruits and vegetable to restore and maintain your skin’s natural glow.

Stay Hydrated

More than ever, your body needs water to help build immunity against common dry season sicknesses like the common flu so always have a bottle of water close by
