Meet Busari Aderonke Adesewa, Our Flexxpreneur Of The Month

It’s the first week of a brand new month which means it’s time for us to introduce to you our latest entrepreneur. In this episode of the Flexxpreneur series, we had a chat with Busari Aderonke Adesewa, a producer and distributor of premium quality tie and dye wears and accessories, and the lead founder of Idea Premium Textile Design.

It was a very enlightening Flexxpreneur session where we learned a lot from Adesewa about her passion for textile design. We wouldn’t want to leave you guys out of it so here is what went down with Adesewa our latest Flexxpreneur!

1. Let’s meet you (Your name and what you do)

I am Busari Aderonke Adesewa, the CEO of Idea Premium Textile Design; I deal in the production and distribution of Premium Quality Tie and Dye Wears and Accessories, General Merchants and Contract.

2. How long have you been doing this?

Close to 2 years now.

3. What inspired you to go into the business?

As a graduate of Fine and Applied Art at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, I wanted to put my area of discipline into use. Besides, I have a natural love for colours/dyeing.

4. What was your highest and lowest point since you started today?

My highest point was when I was able to register the brand with the Corporate Affairs Commission early this year. It was a great one for me.

My lowest point was some weeks ago. I lost a loyal and beloved customer, not to death actually. There were errors in the designs of the bulk order she placed and we experienced some technical delays in delivering. The disappointment and loss of money were not as painful as losing her trust and patronage. This broke me down and rendered me empty.

5. What do you aim to achieve in the next 12 months concerning your business

An appraisal of our activities in the last 12 months has been good despite the damages of COVID-19 on the economy.

We’ve been able to produce about 5,000 yards of different fabrics, supply over 1,000 individuals and homes, and train about 500 youths and adults on the production and marketing of Tie and Dye, Batik, and others.

In the next 12 months, we hope to be able to clothe over 100,000 to 500,000 people, train over 5,000 to 10,000 youths, build Tie and Dye Workshops so as to help students for their SIWES or IT program. Plus, start the exportation of our products to far and near countries.

6. What are your short and long term goals

Short Term Goals: Impacting more lives, clothing more people day-in-day-out and improving the quality of our services.

Long Term Goal: Clothing over One Million persons and homes by the year 2035 and becoming the biggest Tie and Dye Firm in Nigeria.

7. Which individuals do you draw inspiration from and why?

Mrs Nike Okundaye, Founder, Nike Gallery. She’s a national and internationally recognized textile artist. I had my Industrial Training at her workshop in Osogbo, Osun State and her contributions to the development of Tie and Dye are unquantifiable.

8. How do you unwind?

Nice sleep, good food, hanging out with friends.

9. What advice would you give your fellow Flexxers who are on this path?

The struggle is real; the journey isn’t going to be easy, and the path is going to be rough. But the determination must remain unshakeable. The plans can change but the sight of the goal must not be lost. You must keep fighting; you must keep moving.
