Preparing for the rain goes beyond your umbrella and raincoat. During seasons like this, flu begins to spread. People start coming down with cold, cough and catarrh. Most infectious diseases spread by humid climate, heavy rain and windy surroundings.

How do we stay healthy and free from these diseases even as it rains?

1. Keep your home and environment mosquito-free

Your environment might be a bit challenging as that would involve neighbours in the community. But you can control your compound and home. Do not allow rainwater to gather in sections of the house so as not to form breeding grounds for mosquitoes. If it can’t be avoided either, use a mosquito repellant.

Eat meals that are rich with vegetables and fruits high in antioxidants to help boost your immune system. Also, maintain high hygienic standards in the kitchen.
