2020 Predictions That We’d Love To See Happen

2020 is finally here. The year people have been raving about for years and years. There have been so many predictions about the trends of this year and now that it has arrived, we’d actually love to see if they play out.

Here are the predictions  we’d love to see happen:

Flying Cars

Flying cars have been predicted for decades. Movies like Back to The Future II and Blade Runner have notably featured them in scenes. It’s quite amazing that we haven’t had the high tech innovation yet, but it looks like they might take flight in 2020. According to this article, companies like Toyota and Airbus are already working to ensure that flying cars become a reality this year. We don’t know if/ when they’ll reach Nigeria, though. Can you imagine flying cars stuck in mid-air traffic on Third Mainland Bridge? Whew.

Flexible Work Schedules

The workplace is expected to transform significantly in 2020, with work hours and schedules becoming more flexible and convenient for every employee. Remote work is also likely to become more prevalent in 2020. It would be quite refreshing if workplaces adopt this trend, especially in a busy and unpredictable city like Lagos. We hope more employees are granted the opportunity to work from home.

The Mars 2020 Mission

Mars 2020 is a mission by NASA, announced in 2012, to assess the habitability of the planet, as well as evidence of past life. There was a worldwide entry submission for those interested in sending their names to the planet- a campaign that received over 10 million submissions. This mission seems quite exciting, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Telepathy and Teleportation

Michael J O’Farrell, in his 2014 book- ‘Shift 2020: How Technology Will Impact Our Future’, predicted (very confidently) that telepathy and teleportation would be possible this year. In his words, he said: “In the pending nano-mobility era, I predict telepathy and teleportation will become possible by the year 2020—with both commonplace by 2040.” While this currently sounds very far-fetched and impossible, we might still have our hopes up a little. We’ve seen them in movies, and they look fascinating.

Which 2020 prediction would you love to see this year?
