How to get in your lecturer’s good books in school!

Have lecturers whom you have a hard time understanding or everyone avoids due to their ‘wickedness’? It is beneficial to build a positive relationship with your lecturers, which will help improve your studies and career prospects. We have the right tips to help you relate easily with any lecturer in school.

● Always show up to class. If you are unable to make it, inform the lecturer beforehand by politely stating your reasons.
● Always get to class on time.
● Participate in class – ask intelligent questions that relate to the topic being discussed.
● Keep all side-talks and chatty conversations to a minimum.
● Maintain eye contact with the lecturer in class and respond with nods and other communication cues.
● Take a lot of interests in the course and regularly volunteer for class projects and extracurricular activities (QUESTION – how are extra-curricular activities the business of
the lecturer?).
● As the saying goes, respect is reciprocal: there are really rude and inactive students in
the class, don’t be one of them. Outside the classroom, be courteous when you run into
any of your lecturers
● Make the most of the lecturer’s office hours. Having one-on-one conversations with your
lecturers can benefit you. Ask for career advice and listen to his/her journey if willing to
share. Keep if professional and you can come along with some of your classmates.
