Did you know the real name of this fruit is the African Star Apple or the White Star Apple; It is locally referred to as Agbalumo (Yoruba language) or Udara (Igbo language). Agbalumo is a very healthy fruit due to its low-calorie content, high fibre content and a large amount of ascorbic acid (Vitamin.C). All these help with weight loss and makes the body generally healthier!

The fruit’s flesh is so sweet, it’s used in several beverages, ice creams, and some foods. Soursop has lots of vitamin C and several B vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin, along with calcium, phosphorus and a small amount of iron. Its fruit and leaves are used to calm stomach distress, fever, parasitic infections, cough, asthma, hypertension and rheumatism, its also works well as a sedative. It is advisable to not eat the soursop in excess as that could be detrimental to the health.
