If you are in a Nigerian public tertiary institution, then you’re not unfamiliar with the word “strike” and it’s accompanying wahala. Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology are once again at home when they should be in school due the strike embarked upon by academic staff and no one knows when it’ll be called off.
Information gotten from our sources reveal that the students were about commencing exams when staff raised complaints about unpaid salaries and other benefits for over 20 months. The aggrieved staff demanded their needs be met before releasing the examination questions and continuing curriculum activities.
LAUTECH students are at the receiving end and clearly aren’t happy about this. If you’ve seen the hashtag #ReOpenLAUTECH anywhere online; this is what it’s all about.
Despite several meetings being held within the LAUTECH senate to proffer a solution to the seemingly unending strike, our big question remains “when is LAUTECH resuming?
