The Nigerian weather on average is hot, hot and hot! It’s even worse when as students you have to be in the scorching sun most days running to classes, queueing for registrations/exams or trying to get home after classes etc.
Here are some ways to keep cool and fresh despite the heat waves.
- Know and concentrate on your cooling points: Your cooling points are the places in your body that when air passes through them, your entire body feels cooler. Concentrate on trying to cool them and the rest of your body can manage.
- Carry a portable umbrella: Umbrellas aren’t just for rainy seasons, you can use them under the sun to block the rays from hitting your face. Umbrellas can also serve as a cool fashion accessory, so it’s a win-win 😀
- Carry a portable fan: Any form of fan is good – hand fan, rechargeable portable fan – whatever it is, so long as it keeps you airy, go for it!
- Stay hydrated: The hot weather can cause damage to your body by making you feel weak and parched. Thus, ensure you have a steady supply of water and cool drinks to keep yourself hydrated and fresh all day long.
- Wear comfortable fabrics: Wear light clothes instead of heavy ones and be sure to also wear colours that don’t absorb heat.
